Security permission settings control whether a person
can edit a work code and to what extent that person can edit a work
code. Work code editing rights include Edit, and Edit
Without Rules.
The Edit setting grants users the ability to modify basic
work code and time parameter fields with applicable Dynamic Issues
and Static Issues enabled. The Edit Without Rules setting disables applicable
Dynamic and Static issues, and allows advanced work code editing capabilities.
To further clarify,
Edit prompts the user with Dynamic
and Static issues associated with a work code, this allows the user
to see if editing the selected work code violates a business rule
or policy. If the request is in violation of an issue, then depending
on the strength of the users’ system security level,
the issue displayed
will either...
- Prevent the user from entering the code
- Convert the work code into a request
- Allow the user to override that issue
Additionally,
the Edit feature provides basic editing capabilities to allow users
to switch a work code and change time parameter field entries.
Edit Without Rules suppresses Dynamic and Static issues,
this means issues in violation of a business policy or business
rule will not alert the user or stop the user from editing that
work code. Advanced editing capabilities are also granted, this
means the user has full control of work code settings for the selected
record and can override or change the default configuration behavior
of the selected work code record.
Each work code is configurable to allow editing capabilities.
For this reason, you may find that some codes can be edited and
other codes can not. The extent of the users’ editing capability
depend on whether that user has any of the following Authority permission
settings granted:
- Calendar: Add Edit Code - grants
the ability to add a code, and Edit with rules for items on the
General tab.
- Roster: Edit Basic- grants Edit Without Rules for items
on the General tab.
- Roster: Edit Advanced - grants Edit Without Rules for
items on the General, Advanced, and Logging tabs.
