About Editing Work Codes

Security permission settings control whether a person can edit a work code and to what extent that person can edit a work code. Work code editing rights include Edit, and Edit Without Rules.

The Edit setting grants users the ability to modify basic work code and time parameter fields with applicable Dynamic Issues and Static Issues enabled. The Edit Without Rules setting disables applicable Dynamic and Static issues, and allows advanced work code editing capabilities.

To further clarify, Edit prompts the user with Dynamic and Static issues associated with a work code, this allows the user to see if editing the selected work code violates a business rule or policy. Additionally, the Edit feature provides basic editing capabilities to allow users to switch a work code and change time parameter field entries.

Edit Without Rules suppresses Dynamic and Static issues, this means issues in violation of a business policy or business rule will not alert the user or stop the user from editing that work code. Advanced editing capabilities are also granted, this means the user has full control of work code settings for the selected record and can override or change the default configuration behavior of the selected work code record.

Each work code is configurable to allow editing capabilities. For this reason, you may find that some codes can be edited and other codes can not. The extent of the users’ editing capability depend on whether that user has any of the following Authority permission settings granted:
