Set Employee Contact Type to SMS (Text Message)

  • SMS add-on feature license.
  • Mobile device must accept text messaging in order to receive text messages from this application.
  • Employees must have permissions to access and edit their personal contact methods.
  • Functionality available for USA and Canada only.
Important
It is recommended that you save the SMS provider’s phone number in your contacts once verified for future reference and to manage SMS correspondences.

To set SMS go to your Contact Methods section in My Info: General tab:

  1. Choose Phone, Mobile, or Home to display the SMS check box. Decide which order in Contacts you would like to receive a text.

    For example, you may set the first contact to mobile, then use that same phone number in the second contact and check the SMS check box. Only the same person can use the same phone number for both phone calls and SMS.

  2. Type the phone number you would like to use for text messages. Required format E 164. SMS valid for USA and Canada -only.Use country code +1 for USA and Canada. A phone number used for SMS requires the use of the country code +1 in Contacts. Required format: +12223334444
  3. Select the SMS check box.
  4. Click Save. Doing so displays the alert: Not Verified, and enables the Verify function.
  5. Click Verify.

    An SMS verification message will be sent out to the phone number provided. Message and Data rates may apply.

  6. Wait a minute or so to receive the following message:

    Please verify your phone number by clicking on the link...

  7. Click the link to update your contact in the application, if successful your contact method displays Verified for the SMS phone number provided.

To unsubscribe from SMS notifications:

  1. Locate the initial SMS notification text message from Twilio on your device.
  2. Reply STOP.

Once unsubscribed your phone number is blacklisted, and you will not receive text messages which include job offer links. To reactivate notifications see: Restart SMS Messages.

To reactivate to SMS notifications:

  1. Locate the initial SMS notification text message from Twilio on your device.
  2. Reply START.

    After you reactivate with Twilio reset and reverify your SMS contact information in this application as both sides must be re-synced.

  3. Go to your Contact Information, set your SMS contact information to Phone, Mobile, or Home.
  4. Select SMS.
  5. Click Save.
  6. Click Verify.
  7. Recommended: Contact your application administrator to test and confirm you can receive text messages (job offers).
