Bid Method...
Note:

The Bid Method describes how bidding will take place auction wide. It designates how you bid, and how your bids will be interpreted. See Bid Method topics for more details

  • Queue - Bid by Queue order. Item(s) won at time of bid. Queue auctions allow only one person (or a few people) to bid at a time. The active bidders in a Queue auction are referred to as active since they, and they alone are next to bid. In a Queue auction, bids are not just permanent; they result in the bidder winning their item immediately.
  • Preference - Indicate preferred items (1 = most preferred).
Instructions The Instructions are non-static information that can be set by the auction’s manager. The purpose of the instruction’s text is to allow the dissemination of information regarding the day-to-day status of the auction and its bidding. When set (not <none>), the instructions will be highlighted.
Maximum bids This field displays how many items each person is allowed to bid on concurrently (at the same time). For example, if the value is 1, then each bidder may only bid on one single item. The bidder who has bid on their maximum number of items can remove one of their bids (to bid on a substitute item), provided the auction is Retractable. If the value displays <unlimited>, then there is no limit to the number of items a person can bid (Non-Queue auctions only). Each bidder is free to bid on each and every item, provided that the item itself does not limit bidding. When the Maximum Bids is used (not set as <unlimited>), the value will be highlighted.
Bids per turn This field displays the number of bids that a person can bid on in one Bid Turn. This generally means that the indicated value is the number of new items that can be bid on at once (until the Save button is pressed). When the Bids per turn is used (not set as <unlimited>), the value will be highlighted.
Blind Auction
  • Yes - Individual bidders will not be able to view the bids of others. All indications of other peoples’ bids will not be shown.
  • No - Individual bidders will be able to see what other bidders have bid (and won).
Retractable
  • Yes - Bids can be withdrawn or changed.
  • No- Placed bids will be permanent once the Save button has been pressed. Bidders will not be able to remove or change bids, once they have been saved. Any auction can be configured as a non-retractable auction, but Queue auctions are automatically set as non-retractable.
