For additional information pertaining to the various levels found in the Auction tree see Auction Item Tree Overview and Auction Item Tree Terminology.
Field Name | Field Description |
---|---|
Name | The name of the item. The Auction Item’s text should reflect something that bidders understand, but the text does not trigger any functional relationship with anything in the application. |
Name - Formula ID | Displays all of Auction Type Formula IDs configured in Setup > General > Formula ID. Select a Formula ID to replace the name using the desired Formula ID format. |
Description | The detailed description of the auction item. The text entered here will display inside the auction item’s details section. Up to 254 characters may be entered. |
Description - Formula ID | Displays all of the Auction Type Formula IDs configured in Setup > General > Formula ID. Select a Formula ID to replace the default description using the desired Formula ID format. |
Visible | Determines whether or not the corresponding
Auction item will be visible. Choices are:
|
Note:
Even in the Manage view, items that are configured to be non-visible (by condition, for the viewing person) are not shown. In the Advanced view there is no person and no applicable way to reliably evaluate a condition. |
|
Visible - Conditional | Assigns dynamic conditions to control the visibility
of the corresponding Auction item. Controls who can see the Auction
item. Note:
This field refers to the effective date of the Auction item relative to the bidder’s qualifications when determining visibility. |
For example, these are some of the most common
dynamic conditions used:
|
|
Biddable | Determines whether the corresponding Auction
item will accept bids. Sometimes, items are not biddable but visible
for informational purposes.
|
Biddable - Conditional | Used to assign a dynamic condition to the corresponding Auction item. For example, a bidder can only bid on the auction item if they are qualified or can bid in round 3. |
For example, an Auction Item, such as a date like December 25th is non-biddable until round 3 or Turn 3. Use Dynamic Condition: AUCTIONTURN (ex: AUCTIONTURN=3 or AUCTIONTURN>=3) | |
Dynamic (Auction Qty) | Determines how many people within a group can win the Auction Item. |
For example, only 1 Captain and 2 Paramedics can win December 25th. If the ‘Static Max’ for December 25th is set to 7, only one Captain and two Paramedics may win December 25th; but not reserved or guaranteed because it all depends ‘where’ these bidders rank on the bidders list. If the Static Max is blank, then Dynamic Numbers determine how many people can win, so using the same example one Captain and two Paramedics may win December 25th but not more than. | |
Note:
Only the time-off work codes processed within the Auction module contribute to an Bidding Quantities maximum. The same time-off codes already on the Roster through some other method do not contribute towards the total Bidding Quantities count. |
|
Static Maximum | A Static Maximum is a quantity that does not change. Assigning a Static Maximum to an Auction Item caps the Auction Items to the static value defined. |
For example, only 7 people can bid on December 25th and not more than. Without a Dynamic/Bidding Quantities set, any configuration of job titles or skill sets can take Christmas off - the ‘win’ depends on where a person falls in the Bidder’s List. | |
IMPORTANT:Zero (0) is the null setting for a Static Maximum. A value of zero means the Auction item will not be limited by the static maximum value; all quantity will be determined by a Dynamic Quantity, should one be assigned. | |
Note:
It is possible for the Auction Item to have a working quantity less than its assigned static value by using a Dynamic Quantity in conjunction with a Static Maximum. |
|
Qualifications | The defined set of specific information (e.g., Shift, Unit, Rank) used by the Rules for determining qualified winners for the Auction Items. |
Award Type | Specifies a general category for the Auction
Item and determines what type of Award Process will be used when
the item is awarded. Choices are:
|
Note:
The No Award type is typically used within a Parent auction item when the Parent is biddable and the children (Dates) are the actual award. In this case, the Parent is set to No Award and the Children are set to Work Code. This function may be used for time-off auctions when the users must bid on a block of days (the Parent); the actuals days within the block are the Children and what is awarded. |
|
Configuration Note:When No Award is configured in Setup, the Award menu item and the Award button will be disabled in the Manage Bidding area. If a mix of Award and No Award items are selected, the Award menu item and Award button will enable, but clicking on those items will only award items without the No Award status. Items with a No Award Status will be omitted from the process | |
External ID | Enter a Unique ID to identify this auction item. An Auction item's External ID is used for importing Auction items through the gateway. |
Hide children (children use parent Qty) (Parent Item Properties) | This setting applies to parent Auction Items
only. When configured results in the following effects:
|
Enforce consecutive bidding (Parent Item Properties) | This setting applies to parent Auction Items only and used to enforce bidders to bid on items in consecutive order. |
Max child bids (Parent Item Properties) | This setting applies to parent Auction Items only and used to control the maximum number of ‘child’ items available for the corresponding Auction item(s). |
Min child bids (Parent Item Properties) | This setting applies to parent Auction Items only and used to control the minimum number of ‘child’ items available for the corresponding Auction item(s). |
Default bid | The default bid is the value that will be considered a staff members bid when that staff members bid has not been set. Default bids (unset bids) can only be created by auction managers. Changing the Default Bid for an Auction Item will dynamically change all bid records, for that Auction Item, having unset bid values. |
