The Reset Auction function allows auction managers to
reuse an Auction by simply redefining the dates people bid for in
the Manage Bidding area.
The auction can be reset from the Manage Bidding area if only
the dates applied to the auction items must be redefined, like Wednesday,
January 1st 2014 will change for next year’s auction to Thursday,
January 1st 2015 - same date but different day of the week, hence
a different auction item.
Important: The Auction must be reset from the Setup Bidding
area when the following changes occur:
- The Bidding Quantity will change. For example, the current
auction allows three people across ranks to bid for time-off on
January 1st. Next year’s Auction will allow five people off and
only one of each rank can bid for time-off on January 1st.
- The visibility of certain dates will change. For example, the
next Auction will not allow bidding for highly coveted dates, like
January 1st. Instead, these dates will be handled differently, either
in a different round or through an entirely different auction.
- The visibility of certain positions will change. For example,
either more or less positions are available.
- The application accepts two dynamic date formats: the preferred
ISO 8601 format YYYY-MM-DD, and EN_US format MM/DD/YYYY
for backward compatibility. This means if you enter September
11, 2017 as 11/09/2017 - the application will read as November 09,
2017. Localization of Dynamic Dates is not supported.
