About DST Offset

The DST Offset feature works with Institution Focus and used to keep shift start and end times consistent when crossing a DST change. By default, when a shift crosses a DST, the system calculates shift start and end times accordingly.

For instance, during the spring time we lose an hour so for a shift that runs 07:30 to 07:30 for 24 hours the system shows, 07:30 to 08:30 for 24 hours. Enabling this offset will keep the shift start and end times consistent and the system shows: 07:30 to 07:30 for 23 hours.

DST Offset is available as a global setting in the System Information page or by Institution in the Organization structure.

Application version 7.2+ stores all date/times in Coordinated Universal Time, better known as UTC. As part of the upgrade process all data gets converted to UTC. When a shift crosses Daylight Savings Time, timezone suffixes, Standard Time (ST), and Daylight Time (DT) display for clarity. Timezone suffixes have been added throughout the application when a time can be either ST or DT. For example, 23:00 PST - 05:00AM PDT.
