About Suppress If Not Assigned

The Suppress if not assigned check box is a backwards compatible feature used by customers who implemented this application when Shifts were attached to Units. Many application versions ago Shifts were moved down to the Position level to meet fluctuating and advanced shift minimum requirements across multiple industries.

Suppress if not assigned was used to suppress the position when that position within the unit did not require backfilling because shifts were not attached to positions at that time and advanced vacancy strategies did not exist to tell the system suppress this position when running on Shift 1 only. Customers who configured this application in version 1 and have not reconfigured the organizational structure may require this check box.

Today certain customers keep the Suppress if not assigned check box clear to display the position in red font on the Roster when a position with a shift assignment does not have an owner. Doing so alerts personnel when a position for a specific shift requires staffing, whether it be backfilling each instance with different people or giving that position and shift assignment to someoneelse.
Important
Keep the Suppress if not assigned check box clear to alert staffers when a Position and Shift requires staffing.
