Unassigned personnel are staff members that are scheduled to work but do not have a location of work until a system administrator gives them a home assignment.
Rule of Thumb:
There are two methods for configuring unassigned personnel:
Best Practice: Create an area in the Organizational Structure with “Unassigned” positions. This configuration keeps the Roster tidy and allows for better personnel tracking when personnel moves from their assigned position. This is because the ‘person’ has a home position, essentially a defined value that allows for better personnel tracking on the Roster. Where as the second method has an undefined position set to <none> in the person’s assignment which may cause personnel to display in random places on the Roster when multiple Roster transactions take place on a single person.
